2021 Vehicle Crash

In October 2021, Gauthier was involved in a vehicle crash. Gauthier testified in court that there was no alcohol in the car.[3]

In December 2021, Gauthier's dog defecated in the house. Gauthier broke his knuckle when he punched the dog in the head.[3]

Gauthier told hospital staff that he injured himself in a fall.[3]

In a hearing about an unrelated abuse prevention order, Gauthier lied in a hearing about his broken knuckle.[4]

Gauthier admitted that there had been alcohol in the vehicle that he previously crashed.[4]

On February 10, 2022, Gauthier was placed on paid leave.[3]

On February 11, 2022, a restraining order was issued against Gauthier.[3]

On February 24, 2022, Gauthier was placed on unpaid leave.[3]

Starting on March 20, 2022, Gauthier contacted the woman who had received the restraining order.[3]

On April 14, 2022, police responded to a report that Gauthier had violated the restraining order.[3]

In April 2022, Gauthier resigned.[1]

On April 19, 2022, Gauthier was charged with violating an abuse prevention order.[4]

In 2023, Gauthier pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor charges for violating an abuse prevention order and giving false reports to law enforcement, and violating the conditions of his pretrial release. A charge of animal cruelty was dropped.[5][1]

In 2023, Gauthier was sentenced to probation.[1]

On July 16, 2024, the Vermont Criminal Justice Council permanently revoked Gauthier's certification for unprofessional conduct.[5]
