2020 Arrest of "J.R."

On August 12, 2020, Massa participated in the arrest of "J.R.".[2]

Response Timeline

On October 5, 2020 and May 24, 2021, Massa lied to the FBI during their investigation, when he claimed to not being present when J.R. was booked, while video showed that Massa was present.[2]

2020 Arrest of "E.W."

On December 22, 2020, Massa participated in the arrest of "E.W.".[2]

Response Timeline

On October 4, 2022, Massa was indicted on two misdemeanor counts of deprivation of rights under color of law and two felony counts of lying to the FBI. The indictment said there was an "absence of an arrest warrant or probable cause" in both arrests and that Massa had violated the victims' Fourth Amendment rights. Each of the civil rights charges carries a maximum sentence of up to a year in prison, a $100,000 fine, or both. The charge of making a false statement carries a penalty of up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.[2]
