2022 Theft
On May 13, 2022, Knight was in uniform while shopping at a store. Knight brought barcodes for cheaper products with him and placed them over the barcodes for more expensive items in the store before attempting to purchase them. The items were worth approximately $400.[1][3]
Response Timeline
On May 13, 2022, Knight was arrested and charged with unlawful acts involving a theft detection shielding device, a level 9 non-person felony.[1][4][3]
In August 2022, Knight accepted a diversion agreement from prosecutors.[1]
On October 19, 2022, the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training (CPOST) revoked Knight's law enforcement license for the felony and for lack of good moral character.[3]
