2014-2021 Sexual Assault
Between 2014 and 2021, Montz sexually assaulted two women he was dating.[2]
On March 14, 2023, the assaults were brought to the agency's attention.[3]
Response Timeline
Montz was put on administrative leave.[3]
The results of the investigation were sent to the Placer County District Attorney.[4]
On June 30, 2023, Montz was arrested on suspicion of forcible rape and sodomy of an intoxicated person.[3][5]
On July 5, 2023, Montz pleaded not guilty. A third victim came forward and additional charges were filed.[6][2]
In July 2023, Montz separated from the department.[1]
On July 24, 2023, the state Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) temporarily suspended Montz's certification during the criminal investigation.[7]
