Response Timeline

On August 18, 2023, the officers were charged with Conspiracy to Commit an Act Injurious to the Public and Accepting a Bribe, both felonies.[7]

On December 21, 2023, Williams pleaded no contest to state charges of felony conspiracy to commit an act injurious to the public and misdemeanor altering evidence. Williams faces up to three years and four months in prison.[4]

2021 Obstruction

On March 23, 2021, Williams was involved in an investigation of a gang-related murder which included court-authorized wiretaps of several phones and social media accounts. Williams called one of the numbers and tried to cover it up.[8]

Response Timeline

On August 16, 2023, a federal grand jury indicted Williams for Destruction, Alteration, and Falsification of Records in Federal Investigations, and Obstruction of Official Proceedings.[8] Williams faces 40 years in prison.[9]

2021 Destruction of Evidence

On May 6, 2021, Williams was at the scene of an arrest that involved the use of a police dog and noticed a person recording the incident on their cell phone. Williams took the witness's phone and destroyed it.[8]
