2018 Death of Nathaniel Prasad

Officer Involved Shooting

On April 5, 2018, officers located Prasad, who was wanted on warrants for felony gun possession, felony probation, and misdemeanor evading arrest. Officer Craig Perry stopped a vehicle being driven by Prasad's mother. Prasad ran from the vehicle as officers pursued. As officers approached, Prasad pulled a gun from his waistband and fired at Perry, who returned fire as Prasad continued running. During the chase, Prasad fired again, and officers returned fire, striking Prasad.[3]

Officers rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. Prasad was pronounced dead at the scene.[3]

Sergeant Kurtis Romley, and officers Calvin Gaziano, Jared Madsen, Jamil Roberts, and Ralph Meredith were also involved.[3]

The incident was captured on officers' body-worn cameras, in-vehicle cameras, and surveillance cameras.[4]
