Khan was off-duty when he heard and saw a neighbor being struck by a male assailant. Khan entered the house and found the man to be armed with a knife and seemingly intent on stabbing the woman. Khan struggled with the man while the woman and her children escaped. Khan subdued the man until officers arrived.[1]
On January 5, 2012, Khan was named the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for a Large Department.[3]
On June 1, 2012, Khan's actions were described in an FBI Bulletin Note.[1]

2022 Driving Under the Influence
On December 29, 2022, Khan crashed his vehicle into several other cars, injuring two other people.[2]
Khan did not provide a breath sample at the scene.[2]
Khan was cited for Careless Driving and for Open Container of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle.[4]
Response Timeline
In March 2023, a blood sample taken after the crash showed Khan's blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.289, three times over the 0.08 limit.[4]
On March 21, 2023, Khan was arrested and charged with three misdemeanor counts of DUI with Property Damage/Personal Injury, and misdemeanor DUI with BAC of 0.15 or Higher.[4]
Khan was placed on unpaid administrative leave.[2]
