2016 Misconduct

On March 29, 2016, it was determined that Shields' patrol vehicle was overdue for service, in violation of department policies.[1]

Response Timeline

On March 30, 2016, Shields was warned that a future occurrence would result in loss of "take home" privileges for the vehicle and possible suspension.[1]

2016 Misconduct

On December 9, 2016, Shields texted a superior, stating that he had taken some medicine and slept through his alarm. Shields was late for his shift.[1]

On December 9, 2016, it was noted that Shields had three similar prior offenses. Shields was warned that a future occurrence would result in suspension without pay.[1]

2017 Policy Violation

On March 1, 2017, Shields attempted to join a pursuit by running red lights, not slowing to check for cross traffic, and driving at unsafe speeds in the rain, in violation of department policies.[1]

Part of the incident was captured by Shields' in-vehicle camera.[1]

On December 13, 2017, Shields used a department computer to send personal email, in violation of department policies.[1]

2022 Sex Scandal

Response Timeline

On December 29, 2022, Shields was fired for violation of policies regarding sexual activity while on duty, sexual harassment, and conduct unbecoming of an officer.[2] Shields is ineligible to be rehired by the department.[1]
