2022 Road Rage
On May 22, 2022, Smith was involved in an off-duty road rage incident during which he followed the other driver into a parking lot and battered him. The victim filed a police report, but was unable to identify his assailant.[1]
Weeks later, the department received information that linked Smith to the battery.[1]

In September 2022, Smith was charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony, and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.[2]

In November 2023, a jury found Smith guilty of disorderly conduct. Smith was acquitted on the battery charge. Smith faces up to 180 days in jail.[3]
