Response Timeline
James claims that Sasek did not activate his body-worn camera while transporting James, disabled his vehicle's GPS monitor, and turned off his cell phone.[3]
Sasek admitted to leaving James at the landfill.[4]
James filed a lawsuit against the department and the officers.[5]
On January 29, 2024, the city reportedly settled the lawsuit for $3 million.[6]
