On November 22, 2019, Lucas was involved in a vehicle pursuit, during which the driver struck a police car.[5][1]
In February 2020, officials investigated Lucas "after irregularities were discovered during a crash investigation".[1]
The department's investigation found that "Lucas was untruthful when he indicated in an official police report that he and his partner did not pursue a suspect's vehicle and that he had identified the suspect as having warrants after running the vehicle's license plate," according to a news release.[1]
