2024 Detention of Minor

On June 2, 2024, Goodwin responded to a call from a woman who had trouble handling her autistic son, who had threatened family members and himself.[3][4]

Goodwin tried to roll the son over and punched him in the face three times. Officers claimed that the son tried to hit officers and bit one, which was not seen in the video.[3]

Part of the incident was captured on Goodwin's body-worn camera before it dislodged.[3]

Response Timeline

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) opened an investigation.[3]

On August 21, 2024, Goodwin was fired.[3]

2024 Detainment of John Sexton

On July 4, 2024, Sexton and his son when he was stopped by Goodwin and another officer for walking early in the morning. An officer demanded identification, which Sexton claimed that he wasn't carrying.[5]

Goodwin slammed Sexton to the ground and handcuffed him.[6][7]

After a warrant check, Sexton was released.[4]

The incident was captured on officers' body-worn cameras.[5]

Response Timeline

The OSBI completed their investigation.[1]

In August 2024, Blaine County District Attorney's Office declined to file charges.[1]
