2016 Death of Ernesto Carraman
Police responded to a family disturbance call and encountered Carraman, who tried to punch an officer. Brewer repeatedly tased Carraman, who went into cardiac arrest and died. Police later described Carraman as suffering a mental health crisis.[3]
2019 Arrest of Matthew Garza

Brewer was suspended indefinitely.[4]
In January 2020, Garza filed a complaint against the officers.[4]
Investigators determined that Brewer used "unnecessary physical violence" by kneeling on the handcuffed and non-resisting Garza.[5]
In June 2020, Brewer was fired.[6]
On March 22, 2022, Brewer was charged with unlawful restraint, a third-degree felony, and faces 10 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.[5]
On May 1, 2023, the District Attorney dropped the charged against Brewer.[7]
