2022 Computer Crime

Hoyt's juvenile daughter was involved in a criminal case. Hoyt accessed information about the case via a computer and contacted the assigned detective.[1]

The Wichita Kansas Police Department opened an investigation.[3]

On June 29, 2022, the county District Attorney charged Hoyt with two felony counts of unlawful acts concerning computers.[4][1]

Hoyt pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of unlawful acts concerning computers.[1]

Hoyt was sentenced to 12 months of probation.[3]

On August 14, 2023, Hoyt surrendered his certification to the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training (POST).[1]
