2023 Threats

Fitzgerald sent texts to his wife including a picture of a used shooting target silhouette, as if the target represented the person with whom his wife was having an affair. Fitzgerald texted his mother-in-law the message, "Come get your daughter before I kill her".[1]

Response Timeline

On May 4, 2023, Fitzgerald was placed on unpaid administrative leave.[1]

Fitzgerald's actions were determined to not constitute a crime.[1]

On May 27, 2023, Fitzgerald sent his wife a video showing a couple having sex when another man enters the room and stabs the woman. Fitzgerald told his wife that he "just wanted you to see what some people do when that happens".[1]

Response Timeline

On May 31, 2023, Fitzgerald was charged with one felony count of Written Threats to Kill or do Bodily Harm. Fitzgerald admitted to sending the video and messages to his wife.[1]

On May 31, 2023, Fitzgerald resigned in lieu of termination.[1]
