2022 Sexual Misconduct
In October 2022, Walter was off-duty and allegedly had sex with a woman "without her consent".[2][3]
Response Timeline
In November 2022, the Madison Police Department asked the Madison County Sheriff's Office to lead the investigation. Results were sent to the Madison County District Attorney.[3]
A grand jury indicted Walter on sexual misconduct charges.[3]
On February 8, 2023, Walter was arrested and charged with sexual misconduct.[4]
Walter pleaded not guilty.[5]
On June 15, 2023, a judge found Walter guilty of sexual misconduct and sentenced him to a suspended sentence of one year in jail.[6]
With the criminal case resolved, the department opened an administrative investigation.[7]
On June 22, 2023 Walter appealed his conviction.[8]
