2021 Child Pornography

On November 22, 2021, the father of a 15-year-old boy found sexually explicit text messages from Garcia on the boy's phone and reported them to the police. Garcia had met the boy five years earlier when Garcia's nephew was in the Boy Scouts with the boy. The boy also worked at a side business operated by Garcia.[3]. The text messages included instructions to create an explicit video.[2]

On November 23, 2021, Garcia made plans to meet the boy in a park for oral sex, but was met by officers.[2]

Garcia was placed on administrative leave without pay.[2]

In December 2021, Garcia was arrested by the Martin County Florida Sheriff's Office and charged with two counts of lewd computer solicitation of a child and one count of traveling to meet a minor for unlawful sexual activity.[4]

On December 9, 2021, a federal grand jury indicted Garcia on one count of attempted production of visual depictions of sexual exploitation of minors and one count of attempted enticement of a minor.[3] If convicted, Garcia faces 15-30 years in federal prison.[2]

On December 17, 2021, Garcia pleaded not guilty and was ordered to remain in custody until his trial.[3]

On April 6, 2022, Garcia pleaded guilty. Garcia faces between 15 years to life in prison.[5]

On July 11, 2022, Garcia was sentenced to 25.8 years in federal prison.[4]
