In June 2018, Titus was reprimanded by the department.[2]
On November 2, 2018, Titus was indicted by the state on charges of misdemeanor battery.[2]
On November 2, 2018, Titus was placed on paid administrative leave.[2][3]
On March 21, 2019, Titus was indicted by a federal grand jury for deprivation of rights under color of law for using excessive force against Ledesma. Titus faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.[4][3]
On April 1, 2019, Titus was placed on unpaid administrative leave.[5]
On May 9, 2019, the state charges against Titus were dismissed in lieu of the federal charges.[6]
On March 30, 2023, before the start of his trial, Titus pleaded guilty to a felony charge of violating Ledesma's civil rights and admitted that he used "unreasonable force".[7][8][9]
On October 12, 2023, Titus was sentenced to 12 months and one day in federal prison, followed by one year of supervised release.[10]
On February 20, 2024, Titus was decertified by the state.[11]
