2022 Death of John Farally

On August 17, 2022, Strini was off-duty when he rear-ended a vehicle that was stopped at a red light.^[3]

The investigating officer saw no evidence to suggest that Strini was impaired and did not test his breath or blood.^[3]

On August 18, 2022, Farally, the driver of the other vehicle, died at the hospital.^[4]

The department opened an investigation.^[3]

On August 24, 2022, Strini returned to active duty.^[3]

In May 2023, Strini was given traffic citations, including careless and reckless driving, driving at an unsafe speed, and violating the maximum speed limit.^[1]

The Westmoreland County District Attorney did not bring criminal charges, claiming that "the evidence surrounding this accident would not support a charge of homicide by vehicle".^[1] ‎
