2017 Political Rally
On August 12, 2017, Donnelly helped plan and provided security for a "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.[1]
On October 13, 2022, media sources reported on Donnelly's involvement in the rally and sending racist and homophobic messages.[1]

On October 17, 2022, Donnelly resigned.[2]
On April 13, 2023, Donnelly agreed to a "voluntary decertification" with the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission, where he would agree to the commission's decision regarding his certification.[2]
On April 21, 2023, the POST commission revoked Donnelly's certification.[4]
