Traffic Stop of William Albrecht
Nevarez stopped a vehicle for speeding. Nevarez ordered the driver from the vehicle at gunpoint and handcuffed the driver, Albrecht. Albrecht explain that the family was rushing their dog, who had been struck by a car and was bleeding, to an emergency veterinarian.[3]
Nevarez said, "I don't give a f***!".[3]
Another responding officer checked the vehicle and told Nevarez to let the family go. Nevarez continued to curse as the family drove away.[3]
The incident was captured on Nevarez's body-worn camera and a passenger's cell phone camera.[3]
Albrecht was not given a traffic citation. Stella the dog died.[3]
2023 Domestic Battery
On November 15, 2023, Rio Rancho New Mexico Police Department officers were called to a home by a neighbor. Nevarez's girlfriend claimed that he got physical and refused to leave.[1]
Part of the incident was captured on a surveillance camera.[1]
Response Timeline

Two women filed for restraining orders against Nevarez.[4]
In December 2023, Nevarez was fired.[1]
In July 2024, Nevarez pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one year of probation and a variety of classes. Nevarez is prohibited from carrying a firearm.[5]
