2023 DWI

On June 2, 2023, officers responded to a car stopped at a traffic light and found Badillo asleep at the the wheel of his department vehicle. A half-empty bottle of alcohol was found in the back seat.^[1] Badillo was off-duty.^[3]

Officers noted that Badillo had difficulty walking, smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, and was slurring his speech.^[1]

Badillo claimed to have "had three or four beers".^[1]

Badillo's blood alcohol level was measured at .18, more than twice the legal limit.^[1]

Badillo was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence.^[1]

The incident was captured on an officer's body-worn camera.^[1]
