2022 Dishonesty
When Yarnell joined the Smithville Police Department, he claimed that he had voluntarily resigned from his position at the Canal Fulton Police Department. Notes from the Canal Fulton Police Chief said that Yarnell resigned in lieu of termination.[2] Records from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy do not provide a termination reason.[1]

On May 6, 2022, Yarnell was placed on paid administrative leave.[2]
On May 17, 2022, Yarnell was fired for dishonesty.[2]
