2019-2022 Drug Sales

From November 2019 to March 2022, Harris and Officer Devon Wenger sold anabolic steroids.[4]

In March 2022, the officers sent text messages to each other about a plan deliver anabolic steroids to another person.[4]

Response Timeline

On August 16, 2023, a federal grand jury indicted Harris for Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute Anabolic Steroids, Attempted Possession with Intent to Distribute Anabolic Steroids, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Anabolic Steroids. The indictment requires the officers to forfeit any gains received if convicted on any charges.[4] Harris faces up to 30 years in prison, plus fines.[5]

On August 30, 2023, the state Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) temporarily suspended Harris's certification, citing Criminal Proceedings Pending - Egregious or Repeated Acts that Violate the Law.[6]
