2023 Burglary

Between November 25, 2022 and January 3, 2023, Richey visited the station after hours on 11 occasions and took medications from a community drop box.[1]

Response Timeline

On January 6, 2023, Richey was arrested when he arrived for work.[1]

On January 10, 2023, Richey pleaded not guilty to burglary and drug possession charges. Richey faces up to 13 years and six months in jail. The judge ordered Richey to enroll in a drug treatment program.[1]

On April 6, 2023, the state Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) temporarily suspended Richey's certification due to "egregious or repeated acts that violate the law".[3]

In August 2023, Richey pleaded guilty to a count of felony burglary in exchange for no jail time.[4]

On September 11, 2023, Rickey was sentenced to two years of probation.[4]
