2019-2021 College Fraud

Response Timeline

In 2022, the Oakland Housing Authority put Rodriguez-Jalapa on paid administrative leave.[1]

On August 16, 2023, a federal grand jury indicted the officers for Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud and Wire Fraud. The indictment requires the officers to forfeit any gains received if convicted on either charge.[3] The officers face 20 years in prison for each charge, plus fines.[4]

On June 25, 2024, Rodriguez-Jalapa pleaded guilty.[5]

2021 DUI

In July 2021, the Brentwood California Police Department found Rodriguez-Jalapa to be intoxicated.[6]

The Oakland Housing Authority investigated and found Rodriguez-Jalapa had violated department policy.[6]

Brentwood Police Department refused to make their officers available to the Oakland investigation, hindering their ability to take any action against Rodriguez-Jalapa[6]

2024 DUI

On February 10, 2024, Clayton California Police Department Sergeant Tim Marchut and Officer Tanner Vice found Rodriguez-Jalapa asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle. During the incident, Rodriguez-Jalapa threatened the responding officers.[6]

Response Timeline

Rodriguez-Jalapa was arrested for felony suspicion of threatening harm against peace officers and a misdemeanor DUI charge.[6]
