2021 Excessive Force Arrest
In January 2021, Bustamante struck a man in the head with his service weapon and his hands, without legal justification.[2]
Response Timeline
On February 14, 2023, Bustamante pleaded guilty to one felony count of deprivation of rights under color of law. At sentencing, Bustamante faces a up to 10 years in prison and three years of supervised release.
On August 31, 2023, Bustamante was sentenced to 18 months in prison and one year of supervised release.[3]
