2023 Death of Jaime Valdez

On November 11, 2023, police were called about a man making threats to his family members. Officers located Valdez. Yanez shot Valdez.[5]

Paramedics pronounced Valdez dead at the scene.[5]

Response Timeline

The California Department of Justice will conduct an independent investigation of the shooting, which is required under state law for officer-involved shootings of unarmed individuals.[6]
