2019 False Statement

On October 18, 2019, Castillo stopped a man for nearly causing an accident by making an unsafe turn in front of other traffic. The man was given a sobriety test and was arrested for suspicion of DUI.[3]

Castillo's body-worn camera footage showed that there was no other traffic when the man turned.[3]

On November 16, 2021, Castillo was charged with filing a false report and perjury, both felonies.[4]

On March 23, 2023, a jury found Castillo guilty of filing a false report and perjury, both felonies. At sentencing, Castillo faces up to four years and eight months in prison.[1][3]
