2023 Assault of Thomas Brocuglio
On December 8, 2023, Ganter was off-duty and stopped at a red light when Brocuglio honked at him to turn right on red. Ganter exited his vehicle, waved his badge, claimed that no turn was allowed, and punched Brocuglio through his vehicle's open window.[3]
Ganter drove away and Brocuglio reported the incident to the police.[4]
The incident was captured on Brocuglio's in-vehicle camera.[3]

When questioned about the incident, Ganter admitted to hitting Brocuglio.[4]
Ganter was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace.[3]
Ganter was placed in a probation program.[3]
Ganter was suspended for 5 days without pay for violating the department's rules of conduct and must attend de-escalation training.[3]
On April 3, 2024, Brocuglio sued for damages in state court.[5]
On September 17, 2024, Brocuglio withdrew his lawsuit.[6]
