2023 Death of Ta'Kiya Young
On August 23, 2023, police were told that Ta'Kiya Young had shoplifted from a store. Grubb and another officer confronted Young as she sat in her car. Young ignored the officer's commands to exit the vehicle and drove forward, toward Grubb. Grubb fired, striking Young.[3]
Officers removed Young from the vehicle and rendered aid until paramedics arrived. Young died at the hospital.[4]
The incident was captured on surveillance cameras[5] and body-worn cameras.[3]

Grubb was placed on paid administrative leave.[5]
In December 2023, the Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation completed their investigation, which was provided to the Franklin County Prosecutor.[4]
On August 13, 2024, a jury indicted Grubb on four counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault, and two counts of involuntary manslaughter.[5]
Grubb pleaded not guilty.[3]
