2019 Officer of the Month
On July 1, 2019, Shull was named the Officer of the Month for June 2019 for incidents including searching a house for drugs, attempting to get a barricaded suspect to surrender, and helping a choking child.[1]

2019 Policy Violation
On May 7, 2019, Shull was asked to assist school personnel with a student's "disruptive behavior". Shull cussed at and threatened to "slap the shit outta" the student.[1]

On May 8, 2019, the student's mother filed a complaint with the department, warning that there was "no telling whats (sic) next" from Shull.[1]
On May 22, 2019, the department opened an investigation for Conduct Unbecoming.[1]
On May 23, 2019, the department determined that Shull's "verbal response was outside of" department policy.[1]
2022 Policy Violation
On January 16, 2022, officers attempted to stop a vehicle. The vehicle fled and officers pursued before being told to terminate the pursuit. Shull continued to pursue the vehicle and attempted to stop it.[1]

On February 1, 2022, Shull was suspended for two days for violating department policies by not following orders.[1]
2022 Policy Violations
On May 17, 2022, Shull was involved in an arrest where he tased a woman.[1]
The incident was captured on video by a witness, who posted it to social media.[1]
Shull found the video online and made his own version in which he captioned the video, "Can't stop the flop!" and set it to the song, "Ride the Lightning".[1]
On May 18, 2022, Shull showed the video to other officers.[2]
When he was asked about the posting, Shull repeatedly claimed that he had not posted it.[1]

On May 20, 2022, Shull was fired for violating the department's social media policy and code of conduct (untruthfulness).[2]
2023 Death of Steven McMasters
On October 21, 2023, McMasters drove past Shull while riding an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) without using his headlights.[6] Shull attempted to stop McMasters, who failed to stop.[7][2]
Shull claimed that McMasters brake-checked him before Shull rear-ended the ATV. The vehicles collided again and McMasters hit a light pole.[6]
McMasters died at the scene.[5]
The incident was captured on Shull's in-vehicle camera and a surveillance camera. Some responding officers activated their body-worn cameras.[6]

In October 2023, Shull was placed on paid administrative leave.[8]
The Arkansas State Police (ASP) opened an investigation.[7]
On November 1, 2023, the department cleared Shull of any wrongdoing.[8]
