2015 Arrest of Michael Basile

On March 27, 2015, Basile was arrested for disorderly intoxication and taken to the jail. Deputy Shaun Martin claimed Basile was being verbally threatened before Martin threw Basile to the ground, severely injuring him.[3]

The incident was captured on surveillance video.[3]

Martin was suspended for 36 hours without pay.[3]

On March 18, 2019, Basile sued Martin, McMahan, and the Sheriff for excessive force and filing false reports.[3]

2022 Harassment of Kathleen Conkey

In June 2022, McMahan arrested Conkey for driving under the influence. Conkey claims that McMahan made personal advances towards her, which she refused.[5]

The day after the arrest, McMahan called Conkey, and told her he could "get her off". Over a four month period, McMahan called Conkey and sent unsolicited sexually explicit photographs.[5][1]

On October 3, 2022, McMahan and another deputy responded to a domestic battery call. McMahan recognized Conkey and recused himself from the investigation. The other deputy arrested Conkey for domestic battery. Conkey claims that she was arrested in retaliation for her earlier rejection of McMahan.[5][1]

Response Timeline

A review of McMahan's agency-issued cell phone revealed that he had called the woman 5 times and sent her seven sexually explicit photographs.[5]

On October 12, 2022, McMahan admitted to "taking and sending explicit photos", contacting Conkey, and sending the photos to her.[5]

On October 25, 2022, McMahan was fired.[1]
