2023 Shooting of Mekhi Franklin

Baltimore Officer Shoots 17-year-old Suspect After Refusing To Drop Gun

On May 11, 2023, Elleby believed Franklin was armed and approached him. Franklin fled and Elleby pursued him. During the chase, Franklin pulled a handgun and refused commands to drop the gun. Elleby shot Franklin.[1]

Officers rendered aid to Franklin.[3]

A handgun was recovered near Franklin after the shooting.[1]
