Overview

On October 26, 2021, Philadelphia Pennsylvania Police Department Officers Julian Jones and Cindy Williams-Dorin responded to a disturbance call at a house. Upon arrival, they encountered Dzima, who was holding a hammer and a pickaxe. Dzima did not comply with the officers' orders to drop the tools, and Jones deployed his taser. Before police could secure Dzima, he got back up and struck Jones in the head with the hammer, knocking Jones to the ground. Dzima stood over Jones while still armed, and Jones and Williams-Dorin opened fire, fatally wounding Dzima.[1]

Both officers had been trained in crisis intervention.[2]
