Jesse Fischer (2021)
Overview
On October 20, 2021, Arlington Texas Police Department Officer Robert Phillips and an unnamed officer were dispatched on a report of an SUV that had stopped in the middle of the road. When police arrived, the driver, Jesse Fischer, didn't follow orders to stay where he was. Fischer drove around a residential neighborhood, eventually going down a dead-end street. When he turned his car to leave the cul-de-sac, Phillips exited his vehicle and fired at Fischer's car, killing him. Officers performed life-saving measures before Fischer was taken to the hospital, where he died.[1][2]
On October 22, 2021, Phillips was fired for violating department policy by putting himself in the path of a vehicle where deadly force is the likely outcome.[2]
The second officer is on paid administrative leave.[2]
