Commendations

2023 Commendation

Carroll was commended for helping to develop a plan for interviewing people following a mass shooting at a bank. Carroll was nominated for the Detective of the Year Award.[3]

2023 Commendation

Carroll and other officers received a commendation for their resolution of homicide cases. The officers were nomiated for the meritorious Unit Citation.[3]

2023 Kentucky Colonel Award

On June 7, 2023, the Governor awarded Carroll the Kentucky Colonel award for outstanding service to the community.[4]

2024 Commendation

Carroll and other officers received a commendation for locating a missing woman and arresting her killer.[3]

Incident Reports

2016 Arrest of Jacquan Crowley

On June 11, 2016, Carroll spotted Crowley, who was wanted in connection with a crime. Carroll drove back towards Crowley, who fled on foot. Carroll chased Crowley, who fired, striking Carroll in the chest.[5][6]

Crowley escaped.[5]

The bullet was mostly stopped by Carroll's bullet-proof vest.[6]

On June 16, 2016, Crowley was arrested and charged with attempted murder of a police officer.[6]

In 2019, Crowley pleaded guilty to criminal attempt murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and fleeing and evading police, and was sentenced to 18 year in prison.[7]

2018 Arrest of Jarrus Ransom

On December 9, 2018, officers stopped Ransom for dark window tint. As he was being searched, Ransom lunged at an officer. Carroll and other officers took Ransom to the ground. One officer punched Ransom as he as being handcuffed.[8]

The incident was captured on body-worn cameras and witness's cell-phone cameras.[8]

2024 DUI

On July 14, 2024, Carroll was off-duty when he struck a parked car. Responding officers detected the odor of alcohol on Carroll's breath. Officers conducted field sobriety tests.[9]

Carroll was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle under the influence.[9]
