Bodycam video shows LASD confront man with assault rifle, body armor in Diamond Bar
LASD Critical Incident Briefing

On June 19, 2023, Los Angeles County California Sheriff's Department deputies Marisol Barajas and Hector Vazquez responded to calls of a man firing a rifle in the street. Deputies located Chin and used their vehicle's public address system to order Chin to drop the rifle. Chin refused, and continued to walk down the street, eventually walking into traffic. A vehicle stopped, and Chin approached the driver with his rifle in the low-ready position. The deputies fired, striking Chin. Deputies rendered aid until paramedics arrived. Chin died at the hospital.[1]

The incident was captured on officers' body-worn cameras.[2]

The department opened a homicide investigation, which will be sent to the District Attorney to determine if any laws were broken. After the DA's investigation, the department will review the incident for administrative issues.[1]
