Anthony Hopkins, Sr. (2022)
Overview
On September 17, 2022, Anne Arundel County Maryland Police Department officers received calls about a domestic violence incident where the suspect had a firearm. As officers arrived, they heard gunshots and saw bullet holes in their vehicles. Hopkins came out of a wooded area, continued to fire at the officers, and refused orders to drop his weapon. Officers Zachary Devers, Kalin Slayton, Brian Dehn, Marina Hanlon, and Jonathan Metcalf returned fire, killing Hopkins.[1][2]
On August 2, 2023, the state Attorney General released their report, stating that "the use of deadly force was proportional to the threat posed".[3]
