2022 Detention of Minors
In March 2022, the department received a complaint that Tyler and other officers improperly detained several minor children, questioned them without an adult, and searched her home without a warrant.[4]

2022 Vehicle Pursuit
In 2022, Tyler attempted to stop a vehicle for a modified exhaust. The driver led Tyler on a chase that reached 132 mph before getting away.[4]

2023 Death of Alonzo Bagley
On February 3, 2023, Tyler and another officer responded to a domestic disturbance call. During the investigation, Bagley jumped off the house's balcony and fled. After a brief pursuit, Tyler located Bagley, and shot him once.[5][1]
Officers rendered aid. Bagley was pronounced dead at the hospital.[5]
The officers were wearing body-worn cameras, and dashcam video was also captured.[5]

In February 2023, Bagley's family filed a lawsuit against Tyler for violation of Bagley's Fourth Amendment rights.[5][1]
On February 16, 2023, Tyler was arrested and charged with negligent homicide.[1]
On March 17, 2023, Tyler resigned.[2]
On July 24, 2023, Tyler was additionally charged with felony malfeasance.[6]
On July 24, 2023, Tyler pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.[6]
