In December 2018, Berry received a Letter of Recognition from the Londonderry Police Department.[6]

Incident Reports

2019 Death of Sierra Croteau

On April 5, 2019, Berry was off-duty and attempting to pass vehicles by weaving in and out of oncoming traffic.[4] Berry struck Croteau's vehicle head-on, killing her.[7]

Response Timeline

On April 5, 2019, Berry was arrested and charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated. Berry refused to provide a blood sample that was authorized by a search warrant.[8]

In April 2019, Berry pleaded not guilty.[9]

In May 2019, Berry resigned.[4]

On August 19, 2019, prosecutors dropped the earlier DWI charge and re-charged Berry with felony manslaughter, felony and misdemeanor negligent homicide, felony reckless conduct, felony falsifying physical evidence, and felony criminal mischief.[9][8]

In early 2020, Croteau's family filed a civil lawsuit against Berry and two bars that served him alcohol.[8]

In March 2022, Berry pleaded guilty to manslaughter and falsifying physical evidence.[4]

On May 6, 2022, Berry was sentenced to 10-20 years in prison.[7]
